Naveen Jain: Exemplifying Community Citizenship
Naveen Jain exemplifies citizenship that is much-needed from the business community. As CEO and President of Intelius, an information commerce company dedicated to securing homes and communities by delivering online security and intelligence services, Jain and his firm are stepping up toward philanthropy, allocating resources to benefit organizations that are committed to uplifting lives and caring for the underprivileged.
Since 2003, Intelius’ corporate initiatives in the form of cash and in-kind donations have totaled over $1 million, funneled toward nonprofit organizations targeting specific areas such as education, healthcare, shelter, food and self-sufficiency.
Community citizenship is aligned with the company mission. Naveen Jain believes that his firm is driven to support the community and its members both by providing services that help protect and empower them and their loved ones and by giving to organizations that do the same. Among the local and national nonprofit organizations that have benefitted from its philanthropy program include hunger-focused United Way and Hopelink, pediatrics-centered Children’s Hospital and education-focused institutions such as the University of Washington. Other beneficiaries include Bellevue Boys and Girls Club, Treehouse, Overlake Service League, Kindering Center, YouthCare and Eastside Domestic Violence. Aside from corporate giving, it also institutionalized a philanthropy program called Employee Giving Program and Employee Matching Program, which encourage employees to render voluntary community service to choice organizations.
Naveen Jain leads philanthropy by example - he has personally contributed over $480,000 in monetary donations to several nonprofit organizations. He is a patron of organizations that advance the welfare of communities in South Asia, supporting Chaya, CRY India and Pratham. He offers valuable support in generating funds by supporting fundraising activities and engaging other business leaders in the area to do the same.
For his firm’s commitment to philanthropy, the Puget Sound Business Journal gave the Corporate Citizenship Award to Intelius and named it one of the top 25 Corporate Philanthropists in the Puget Sound region. In addition, the Eastside Business Awards named Naveen Jain’s company as an Eastside Community Citizen.
