Ken Mehlman: the 62nd Chairman of RNC

Kenneth Brian Mehlman is an American lawyer and political strategist. He graduated with a B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College and earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He also practiced environmental law in Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld where he held the position of partner.

Most of Ken Mehlman’s career was spent in public service. His interest lay mostly in politics; he worked for many politicians such as Kay Granger and Lamar Smith. The highlight of his career was when he managed the election and re-election of former President George W. Bush. When he became the 62nd chairman of the Republican National Committee, he contributed a lot by increasing the number of Republican votes in the states of Iowa. He is known for his professionalism and integrity by both Republicans and Democrats thus granting him high level positions in Capitol Hill and even the White House.

Now, Ken Mehlman is the current Managing Director and head of Global Public Affairs from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, LLC. In this new position, Mehlman oversees KKR’s relationship with numerous stakeholders around the world as well as the company’s relationship with the government and the public. Ken Mehlman is currently working on KKR’s Green Portfolio Project, which melds investment with environmental initiatives.
